There is a $160 fee to get the plates back—a $100 reinstatement fee, a $50 compliance fee, and a $10 registrar service fee. For three to five years, the state also requires you to file an
SR-22
.Any subsequent offenses are subject to harsher penalties, including:
- $360 restoration fee for vehicle registration and license plates and $660 for third offense or more
- License suspension for one year for a second offense and two years for a third or subsequent
- Vehicle and license plates confiscated for 60 days for a second offense
- Vehicle impounded and sold and five-year suspension on registering vehicles for third or subsequent offense
