What are the best places to live in Los Angeles?

I’m being relocated to LA for work and I’m not familiar with the good and bad areas of the city! What areas should I consider living in?

Los Angeles
is a lot to take in—especially if you’ve never been—and some areas are better than others. Some of the best places to live in Los Angeles include Westwood, Culver City, Silver Lake, Echo Park, Santa Monica, Los Feliz, Downtown LA, Beverlywood & Cheviot Hills, and Playa del Rey & Playa Vista.
Let’s break them down:
  • Westwood: Great spot for young single professionals and students of UCLA looking to live in one of the best areas in LA.
  • Culver City
: Perfect place for young professionals or families looking for a safe, well-connected area.
  • Silver Lake: The “it” spot for all the cool kids—a great area for young and single professionals.
  • Echo Park: If you’re a Dodgers fan, this is where you’ll want to be. It’s the best spot for the young, single, and sporty folks.
  • Santa Monica
: A hub for Hollywood stars, but it also comes with beaches, a fantastic food scene, and fantastic weather. Perfect for people who want beautiful beaches and are willing to pay for the view.
  • Los Feliz: The perfect spot for experiencing everything that makes LA, LA—without the beach. Great area for young professionals looking for the hipster vibe and affordable living.
  • Downtown LA: DTLA isn’t always the best, but it’s a busy place with lots to offer during the day. Great for young and single professionals that work hard and play harder.
  • Beverlywood & Cheviot Hills: So close to
    Beverly Hills
that you’ll have all the expensive coffee and açaí bowls without breaking the bank. Gets you close to some main attractions without being in the middle of a big city. Ideal for those wanting to be near the hub without paying an arm and a leg.
  • Playa del Rey
    &
    Playa Vista
: Great city with a small beach-town feel for the perfect break from the buzz of Los Angeles. It is cheaper than Venice and Santa Monica beach, so it’s ideal for young professionals and students who want a beachy town in LA.
