Many states allow drivers to complete
defensive driving
courses to help remove demerit points from their driving record, and many follow of those teach a pattern they refer to as “the 3 A’s.” The 3 A’s of defensive driving are:
  • Attitude: Maintain a positive attitude while driving—even when you’re frustrated.
  • Awareness: Stay alert to potential driving hazards and complications, like signs, emergency vehicles, and other drivers.
  • Actions: Follow speed limits and keep a safe distance between you and other vehicles to allow yourself time to react to changing situations.
Your defensive driving course may be able to do more than just take points off your license—it could also get you a discount on
