To my surprise this morning, my car had a broken window. Considering it’s the middle of winter, I need to get this fixed as soon as possible. How do I handle this?

We’re sorry to hear about your car and hopefully we can help you get it back to normal as soon as possible. If someone broke your car window, you’ll want to report it immediately. Here’s what to do:
File a police report. If you suspect someone has broken your window, do not start cleaning it up. Wait for the authorities to arrive and take pictures.
Contact your auto insurance provider. Look to see if your policy covers glass repair.

Once the police report is filed, clean up the glass and cover up the window. If the mechanic can’t fix your vehicle immediately, you’re going to need an alternate solution. While it won’t look pretty, you could seal off the window with cardboard and duct tape as a temporary solution.
