Should I lower my liability insurance coverage on an older-model Hyundai Tucson?
I'm 17 years old and car insurance is expensive for me. My parents suggested that I drop my comprehensive and collision coverage. Is it a smart move for me to drive on low-limit liability insurance if I only drive my Hyundai Tucson to school and work?

“Since you have an older-model Tucson, dropping comprehensive and collision coverage is probably a smart move and can save you thousands.
However, you should realize that if you’re in an accident where you’re at fault and you total the vehicle, you’re out a car. If you’re all right with that, a policy with
liability insurance
only should serve you well and put money back in your pocket.That said, make sure to go with limits above the state minimum. State-minimum coverage doesn’t really cover much, and it puts you at financial risk of having to pay out of pocket for damages. Go with a limit such as 50/100/50 or 100/300/100, as it will only cost a few bucks more than the basic coverage.”
