Should I destroy my old driving license?
My driver’s license is set to expire in about a month. It’s the first time my license will expire, so I’m not sure how it works. What should I do with my old driver’s license?

When you go to the DMV to get a new license, the clerk might offer to dispose of your old license for you. If they don’t, you can always destroy it yourself by shredding it (or cutting it with scissors) and throwing it in the trash. Make sure you have a valid new license in-hand before doing so, though.
Your old driver’s license contains valuable information. If a thief gets their hands on it, they could use it to steal your identity or redirect your mail to their address. This is why it’s important to destroy old licenses.
Since the license was your first, you may choose to keep it as a memento. If you do, make sure to keep it in a secure area such as a safe or safe deposit box to ensure it doesn’t fall into the wrong hands.
