Should I bother trying to sue the uninsured driver who hit my car?

Is it worth suing an at-fault, uninsured driver? Last week an uninsured driver hit my 2009 Ford Focus while it was parked. Since my car is so old, I don't have collision coverage to get it fixed. The repairs will cost around $2000.

“With the age of your car, it makes sense that
collision coverage
was not part of your policy.
Knowing if you should try to collect from an
uninsured driver
can be hard to determine and it is up to you.
It will be your time and money invested to pursue a lawsuit. If the driver had funds available, maybe they would have had enough money to pay for their insurance.
If you can cover the $2,000 to get your car fixed now, you will want to complete the repairs right away. It can take weeks, even months before your case is heard and you might not want to wait that long to drive your car.
$2,000 is enough to bring someone to small claims court. This is a much more affordable and less time-consuming option. You can represent yourself. The cost to file is different in every state, but usually around $25.”
