My Jeep Wrangler JK won’t start and there’s no click
I’ve got a 2009 Jeep Wrangler JK that won’t start, and there’s no click when I turn the key. I know a lot of Jeep guys are DIY mechanics, but I’m not in that club. Could you guys tell me what might be wrong? Do I need to call a tow truck?

In most cases, a car not starting with no click when you turn the key will be an electrical issue. But there are a few other problems mechanics will want to look at, too. Here are the most common problems for Jeep Wrangler JK that won’t start and no click:
- Battery issues are the first thing most mechanics will look at—a dead car battery or corroded battery terminals will cause this. You can visually inspect the battery terminals yourself, and if they look okay, trygetting a jumpstartbefore paying for a tow.
- Blown fuses and relays are inexpensive and easy to replace yourself, even without any DIY car maintenance experience. We’d look at the fuse box next.
- A blown starter or starter solenoid can get expensive, but unfortunately these things wear out over time. If you’ve never replaced either of these parts, it’s something the mechanic will want to look at.
- A dead ignition switch will also result in your Jeep Wrangler JK not starting, with no click. It’s less common than battery or starter issues, but a possibility.
- Alternator or serpentine belt issues can also prevent your Jeep from starting up
- Wiring issues like damaged or shorted wires or issues with wiring harnesses will result in some serious headaches too. If the engine’s electrical flow is interrupted, it may not start as expected.
- Many mechanics will also look for a potentially blown fuel pump or clogged fuel filter. These issues aren’t necessarily associated with no ignition click, but they can cause issues, especially in older vehicles.
Unfortunately, some of these repairs can get expensive. But you might just be looking at a dead battery, so a jumpstart will usually do the trick. Though if you do get towed make sure to
