My car battery won't charge past 70. Why?
I’ve jumpstarted my car battery several times over the last several months. When I check the battery power later, the meter shows it’s only at 70%. Can you tell me why my car battery won't charge past 70?

There could be several reasons a car battery won’t charge past 70. In most cases, your battery is old and needs to be replaced.
If your battery is older, it might not be able to hold a charge as long. If it’s having trouble holding a charge above 70%, it could be a sign that it’s ready for replacement, especially if you can see signs of corrosion or cracking. A typical car battery lasts about four to five years.
Sometimes a bad alternator can prevent a battery from recharging while the vehicle is running, which could also get in the way of your battery’s ability to charge past 70%.
