Is there a way to get my car out of impound if I don't have the title?

My car was towed to the impound lot last night. Unfortunately, I didn't realize I was parked in a handicapped space. I have all of the paperwork I need except for the title of the car. Will I still be able to get my car out?

“I am sorry to hear that you are in this position! You can get your car out of impound; however, you will need to get a copy of the title first.
The title shows that you are the actual owner of the car. The impound lot needs verification to release the car. I suggest visiting the lot in person first, explain the situation, and show them all the other paperwork you have. Depending on how friendly they are, they might let you slide and release the car.
If turning on the charm didn’t work, head to your local DMV immediately! Some states can print a new title for you right away, while others may have to send you the title via snail mail.
Another option is to check with the prior owner or the dealership where you bought the car. They may have an extra copy on file for you.
Once you get your car back, download the
Jerry
app so this doesn’t happen in the future! Not only does Jerry show the lowest prices for car insurance, but they also have a “”wallet”” where you can upload all of your essential car documentation. This way, your auto policy and proof of ownership will always be together in the palm of your hand.”
