has 32 state parks, it only has one national forest: White Mountain National Forest. The forest spans over 800,000 acres in both Maine and New Hampshire
and includes Speckled Mountain and Caribou Mountain.White Mountain National Forest offers a wide variety of hikes ranging from easy to moderate with beautiful scenes of waterfalls, bluffs, and overlooks along the way. The hikes are good for any season, but the forest shines brightest—literally—when the fall foliage takes over.
