Is the Chevy Avalanche a truck or SUV?

I’m looking for a full-sized SUV but in a lot of my online searches, I am encountering trucks. I have my eye on the Chevy Avalanche but to make sure I understand the difference. Where does the Avalanche fall?

From the outside especially, full-sized SUVs can look like trucks! The Chevy Avalanche is a *pickup truck. It resembles an SUV because it shares the same long-wheelbase chassis as GM’s popular full-sized SUVs, like the
Chevy Suburban
and
Cadillac Escalade
.
Unlike some of the more ultra-burly trucks in its class, the Avalanche stood apart for its “best of both worlds” approach—combining the interior comfort of an SUV with the cargo capacity of crew-cab pickup.
Most full-sized SUVs can seat up to seven or eight people, while the Chevy Avalanche seats up to six. Other pickups can haul more weight than the Avalanche, but its maximum towing capacity of 8,1000 isn’t too shabby at all. The Avalanche was discontinued after the 2012 model year.
