Yes, Delaware Route 1, also known as the Korean War Veterans Memorial Highway, is a toll road. It runs for roughly 50 miles from Christiana, Delaware, southwest of Wilmington, south to Fenwick Island, Sussex County, which is just above the Maryland state line.
Route 1 is a very easy way to go back and forth between the Dover and Wilmington metro areas and the Delaware Beaches. Tolls on Route 1 are usually open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Traffic is heaviest on weekends during the summer months, as sun-seekers flock to enjoy the beach.
It costs a 2-axle passenger vehicle $2 to use Route 1 on a weekday and $6 on a weekend. You can pay the toll with your E-Z Pass, or with cash.
