Is paint covered under the Mazda warranty?
I bought a Mazda CX-5 Sport last year. It’s a great car, but I’ve noticed some flakes and chips in the paint. Is my car’s paint covered under the Mazda warranty?

Mazda’s factory warranty probably does not cover your
CX-5 Sport’s
paint. While the Mazda warranty would cover your car’s paint if the chips were caused by a manufacturer’s defect, it won’t cover normal wear and tear. After a year of driving, a few small chips on your paint is considered totally normal.Here’s what the Mazda new car warranty does include:
- New Vehicle Limited Warranty: 3 years/36,000 miles
- Powertrain Limited Warranty: 5 years/60,000 miles
- Genuine Mazda Parts Warranty: 1 year/12,000 miles
- **Mazda High-Performance Replacement Battery Warranty: 5 years/unlimited miles
- 24/7 Roadside Assistance and Towing: 3 years/36,000 miles
Mazda’s warranty coverage is meant to repair factory errors, defects, and faulty parts. It does not cover normal wear and tear, or regular services like new windshield wiper blades, brake pads, and oil changes. It also doesn’t cover damages caused by environmental factors, accidents, or customizations.
