Is Oklahoma a no-fault state?

I got into an accident last week and I’m worried that my insurance company will try to say that it was my fault. Is Oklahoma a no-fault state, or should I be concerned that I’ll need to pay for damages myself?

I’m sorry to hear that you got in an accident! Unfortunately, Oklahoma is not a
no-fault state
. It is an at-fault or tort state. This means that the at-fault party is financially responsible for property damages and injuries suffered as a result of the accident.
However, Oklahoma is also a comparative negligence state. This means that if you are deemed more than 50% responsible for an accident, you won’t be able to file a personal injury claim. You’ll also be able to claim damages based on your fault. If you are 20% responsible for the accident, for example, you’ll only be able to recover 80% of damages associated with the accident.
If you’re worried that your insurance company might try to blame you for the accident to avoid paying more in damages, you should consider
hiring an insurance lawyer
to help you out.
