Is lane splitting legal in Oregon?
I’m on my way to Oregon. I finally got the job I wanted in Portland, and I can’t wait to get there. My husband is going to drive our stuff out there, but I conned him into letting me ride my motorcycle. When I arrive, am I allowed to lane split in Oregon?

Lane splitting is illegal in Oregon. According to Oregon Vehicle Code ORS 814.240, you risk two citations by lane splitting:
- A motorcycle may never overtake or pass in the same lane occupied by the vehicle the operator is overtaking unless the vehicle being passed is a motorcycle or a moped.
- A motorcycle may never go between lanes of traffic or between adjacent lines or rows of vehicles.
