Is it legal for an apartment landlord to require you to buy renters insurance as a condition of your lease?
I interviewed with a landlord about an apartment rental. It went well and I've been offered the unit, but the landlord wants me to buy renters insurance first. Is this legal?

Yes, it is completely legal and normal for your landlord to require you to purchase renters insurance as a condition of your lease. The reason they may require insurance is to help reduce their potential liability risk during a legal claim. Additionally, it ensures that your personal property will be covered in the event that something happens to it.
