Is illegal transportation of alcohol a moving violation?

I’m on vacation with my family in Florida right now and we’ve been driving with open containers in the back of our car when we go to the beach. Would this be illegal transportation of alcohol and, if so, does it count as a moving violation?

No, illegal transportation of alcohol is not considered a moving violation in the state of Florida. Instead, it is considered a non-moving violation punishable by a fine of up to $90.
This is true in most other states, but sometimes you may be charged with a misdemeanor for transporting open containers of alcohol in your vehicle, regardless of where in your car those containers are located. To learn more about laws in your home state, you can check your local DMV website for detailed information.
