It depends. Expired registration is considered a moving violation in Texas if the registration has been expired for more than six months. If your registration expired less than six months ago, you may not be charged with a moving violation.
A moving violation occurs when the driver of a vehicle in motion breaches the law in some way. If you’re driving with expired registration, you are breaking the Texas law that requires drivers to carry up-to-date registration.
If you are charged with a moving violation for driving with expired registration, you may be charged with fines of up to $210.
