Is driving with a cracked windshield illegal?

I was driving the other day when a pebble made a slight crack in my windshield. It doesn’t really obscure my view or anything, but my friend said it was illegal. Is it really illegal to drive with a slightly cracked windshield?

Driving with a cracked windshield is never a great idea, but it’s not illegal as long as it doesn’t obstruct your view or pose a danger to other motorists.
In most cases, a slightly cracked windshield won’t cause you to get a
