Is driving barefoot illegal in Florida?

I know that driving barefoot is illegal in some places, but is it allowed in Florida? Sometimes my family and I go to a beach that’s just a few minutes from our house and I usually drive there barefoot. I’m just now realizing that this might not be allowed!

Actually, the idea that barefoot driving is illegal in any state is an urban legend! You can drive barefoot in
Florida
or in any other state. The only state law about barefoot diving is in Alabama, where you are not allowed to operate or ride a motorcycle without shoes.
It’s still not recommended that you drive your car without shoes, but driving barefoot is widely considered to be safer than driving in flip-flops, heels, or wedges. These types of shoes can interfere with your control of the pedals while driving barefoot does not.
While driving without shoes might be legal, driving without insurance isn’t. Fortunately, the
