Is delaying traffic a moving violation?

Can you be charged with a moving violation for delaying traffic? This seems like a dangerous thing to do, but I don’t know if it will actually put points on your record.

Typically, no, delaying traffic won’t result in a moving violation. If you get a ticket for delaying traffic, it is typically more of a slap on the wrist than anything else. This is because, while it is still dangerous,
driving too slowly
is often safer than speeding—other than the fact that it frustrates other drivers!
If you’re delaying traffic by parking in the left lane, of course, that’s a completely different story. This type of traffic offense could result in a moving violation, and potentially damage to your vehicle!
