Is a red light ticket a moving violation in Florida?
I received a ticket in the mail after being captured by a red light camera going through the intersection (I swear the light was yellow). I’m concerned that this could add points to my driving record which isn’t spotless as it is. Can you tell me if a red light ticket in Florida is considered a moving violation?

If you break a traffic law while your vehicle is in motion, you are guilty of a moving violation. In Florida, a red light ticket could penalize you with three
driver’s license points
. But, there are ways to avoid incurring these pesky points. As with any traffic ticket, you have the option to contest the violation. This will require you to appear in court, but if the ruling works in your favor, your fine and penalty can be reduced or even dismissed.
If you’d rather not risk it, you can just pay the ticket fine. A red light camera ticket fine in Florida is $158. As long as you pay the fine within 30 days of it being issued, the moving violation will not show up on your driving record. Failure to pay the fine timely will increase the fine to $262 and you’ll get three points on top of that.
