Is a Kia Soul considered an SUV?

Great question! The Kia Soul is considered a subcompact SUV, even though it may resemble a hatchback.
Aside from its toaster-like shape, the Kia Soul is a solid vehicle. Its base model comes with a decent 147-hp 2.0-liter inline-four engine paired with a CVT, but if you upgrade to the top-level trim, the Soul Turbo, you’ll find a 201-hp 1.6-liter turbocharged I-4 engine under the hood paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The base-level engine also gets an impressive fuel economy of 28/30 mpg city/highway. But regardless of what engine you pick, it offers excellent handling and responsive steering.
But when it comes to the subcompact SUV part of the Soul, the cargo space is what shines. You’ll find a whopping 62.1 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats folded and 24.2 cubic feet with the second tow intact. Passengers also get 41.1 inches of legroom in the front and 38.8 inches in the rear.
