Is 25 over reckless driving?

Clear up this argument for me: Is 25 mph over the speed limit reckless driving? My friend is convinced that it is, but I thought it depends on the state. We don’t want to get a ticket, after all!

It turns out that you and your friend are both right! States have different laws when it comes to reckless driving, but in most of them, going 25 over is considered reckless driving.
If you’re given a reckless driving ticket, but you don’t think you were going 25 mph over the limit, you have a couple of options:
  • You can pay the fine and other penalties
  • You can hire a lawyer to help you fight the ticket in court
  • You can take a state-approved defensive driving course to minimize the penalties
Like you said, states have different laws when it comes to reckless driving. Definitely take a look at the restrictions in your state online or at your local DMV.
While you’re looking into state laws, you can also look at getting cheaper car insurance!
