The GMC Terrain
has four cylinders on every trim level—there is no V6 option on this vehicle. In previous Terrains, there was an option for a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine. Unfortunately, this is no longer available on the 2022 and newer model year GMC Terrain. The only engine choice in the Terrain is a 1.5L four-cylinder with about 175 horsepower.
This vehicle could be a good pick for your family, given what you’ve said about commuting and road trips. It’s attractive on the outside and spacious on the inside, and the starting MSRP is $31,295. That’s a pretty appealing package!
Some reviewers have been unhappy with the Terrain’s acceleration and performance. It might be worth test-driving some V6 SUVs to feel the difference. Try the Ford Explorer with available V6 (starting at $50,755 for the ST trim level) or the Kia Telluride (V6 standard in every trim level, starting at $34,725 for the LX).
Just remember that V6s guzzle more gas, so your cost at the pump will be noticeably higher than with a four-cylinder vehicle.
