The base engine on a Ford Explorer is a turbocharged 2.3L four-cylinder engine. This gives you 300 horsepower. To get the twin-turbo V6 which produces 400 horsepower, you’ll have to upgrade to the

, Platinum, or King Ranch trim levels. If you’re wondering, the base Explorer starts at $37,005. To get the cheapest Ford Escape with a V6, the price skyrockets to $50,755. Though Ford is not considered a luxury brand, that price tag is entering luxury territory! Note that

may increase with a V6 engine as well.Regardless, the Ford Explorer is a great family car. It has three rows of seats and a ton of
cargo space
. Fuel economy is respectable and the standard infotainment features are excellent. Every model includes at least:- An 8-inch screen
