If your car is stolen does your insurance go up?

I parked my car on the street to run into the juice bar and forgot to lock it because I was rushing. I was shocked and devastated to find that within the five minutes I was gone, my car was stolen! On top of everything else, I’m so worried my insurance will go up because of the theft. Will that actually happen?

I am so sorry this happened to you! The silver lining is that your insurance will not go up if your car is stolen.
If you’re only carrying the
minimum car insurance required by your state
, it will be your responsibility to come up with the funds for a replacement vehicle if yours is not found. But those carrying comprehensive coverage will get reimbursed for the current value or cash value of the vehicle after the cost of the deductible.
