If the address on my homeowner's policy is wrong, am I still covered?
I noticed the address on my State Farm homeowner's policy is incorrect. Does this mean I am not covered? It is just one number off and I still get the mail and everything. Do I need to let them know?

“Your insurance policy and declarations page are considered a contract. All the information listed needs to be accurate or else a future claim could be denied.
If you were to have a loss, there are several outcomes that could happen, such as:
- State Farm would update your address, cover the claim, and move on.
- State Farm could deny the claim since it is the policyholder’s responsibility to review all policy documents and make any changes that are necessary.
- State Farm could deny or delay the claim initially. They may need to review any contact and phone conversations they have had with you to make sure it was a company error. Once they feel there is not fraud happening, they would honor the claim.
In this case, it seems to be a harmless typo. You will want to contact
State Farm
and make the correction right away. This small change won’t impact the rate of your policy. If you are questioning the validity of the insurance policy and aren’t comfortable with this type of error, it may be time to re-shop both your home and auto insurance policies.
