I was just in a car crash because the other driver had no lights on. What should I do?
The roads around my house are pitch black at night, and I just hit another car because they were driving around with no lights on. What should I do now?

If you were involved in a car crash with a vehicle with no lights on, your first concern should be for everyone’s safety.
Here’s what to do:
- Check yourself and your passengers for injuries. If you or anyone else is injured, call 911 immediately.
- Call law enforcement to report the accident. It’s illegal in many states not to report even minor accidents.
- Move to a safe location out of the path of traffic, if possible.
- Document the crash. If you’ve got a phone with a camera, take lots of pictures.
- Exchange insurance and contact information with the other driver. However, don’t discuss fault.
