I need to get inside the key fob for my 2011 Mazda 3 so that I can change the batter. But there doesn’t seem to be any way to open it. Does that fob even open?

Yes! The fob does open, but there’s a bit of a trick to getting it open. It can be a bit tricky, but we’ll get you inside your fob in no time! Here’s what you’ll need to do to open a 2011
Change the key to the “out” position so that it’s pointing directly up and out of the fob.
Using a very small screwdriver or the end of a coat hanger, insert the end of the screwdriver into the opening on the back of the fob—the same opening that the key folds in and out from.
You should see/feel a little latch just below the key. Press that tab up and toward the key.
The piece of the fob that holds the key should pop loose when you hit the tab correctly.
Using your flathead screwdriver again, pry the two remaining halves of the fob apart. With the third piece already removed, the remaining haves should come away easily.
The battery should be clearly visible once the fob is out. Remove the old battery and replace it with a new one.
