How soon can you book your driving test after failing?

I failed my first driving test because I was super nervous, but I know I can do better. What’s the earliest I can book my driving test after failing the first try in California?

Learning to drive is difficult and many people fail the first attempt—so try not to worry. In the state of
California
, you can retake the written test after one week and the driving test after two weeks.
Once you pay the license application fee, you should have 12 months to pass your written and driving tests. However, if you fail three times, you’ll need to start the process over again. While that may sound like a big deal, restarting the process only requires the following two steps:
  • Resubmitting your application documents
  • Paying the application fee again
From there, you’ll have another three attempts within the following 12 months to pass your tests.
When you pass your driving test, you’ll officially be a licensed driver! But you’ll also need a
car insurance
policy before you hit the road. For help finding the best rates on the car insurance coverage you need, try
