I’m a big fan of Jeeps and have driven just about all of them except for the Patriot. I’m thinking of picking up a used one for a weekend adventure vehicle—how reliable are Jeep Patriots?

The Jeep name is practically synonymous with off-road driving and outdoor fun, so it makes sense you’d want to own one for your adventures! Overall, the Jeep Patriot has some mixed reviews on reliability.
was given a 4/5 by RepairPal, but reviews from other sources are a bit all over the board. Discontinued in 2017 after ten years, the 2016 and 2017 model years in particular were given below-average reliability ratings from J.D. Power, with transmission problems being high on the list of complaints.
If you’re considering a Patriot, do some due diligence and research as far as the model year and the individual vehicle to make sure you’re getting one that’s worth the investment.
