How often do you need a car inspection in Maryland?

How often should I get a car inspection if I live in Maryland? My friend said that I was supposed to get an inspection twice a year. I want to be sure that's true before I start spending money.

You don’t need to get an inspection for your car that often if you live in Maryland. Typically, you’ll only need one safety inspection when you first buy the car and an emissions inspection test once every two years.
Many states do require drivers to have their cars inspected for safety at least once a year. But Maryland only requires safety inspections upon sale or transfer of a vehicle. That means that you’ll need to get a safety inspection and an inspection certificate if you ever plan to sell your car.
To lower pollution, the state of Maryland does require drivers to get an emissions test every two years. The point of these inspections is to check for any problems that might lead to excessive pollution from your car. While this might sound like a bother, emissions inspections are just a normal part of a
