I usually wash my car at home, but with California’s water restrictions, I’m not sure I should even try right now. How much water is usually needed to wash a car?

typically uses 100 gallons of water or more. But exactly how much water is needed to wash a car depends on the size of your vehicle as well as your water source. Bigger cars will require a little more water to clean than smaller ones, and similarly, your garden hose will use more water than, say, a pressure washer. The average garden hose can dispense around 10 gallons of water per minute—but the good news is, buying an automatic shut-off nozzle for your hose can give you better control over your water usage, saving you up to 70 gallons of water per wash.
