How much was the Tesla Roadster battery upgrade?
I still have my Tesla Roadster and it’s in pretty good shape! There’s been an obvious dip in battery range since it was new, but that’s to be expected of most EV batteries. I know Tesla rolled out battery upgrades for the Roadster, though, so I’m considering doing that—how much did those cost?

The
Tesla
Roadster battery upgrade was initially rolled out at $29,000 in 2016. That price includes all labor and logistics. Tesla released the price total with a statement that the upgrade is less about making a profit for the company and more about showing appreciation for Tesla drivers.
The upgrade came with a higher-capacity battery pack and general upgrades to the Roadster’s whole power electronics module. Altogether, that $29,000 price tag got you an estimated 340 miles of range—though you may find that the price has changed since 2016.
