How much is it to get your car out of impound?

I live in New York City and I think my car was towed last night. I want to get it back ASAP. How much are impound fees?

“Every driver in NYC has probably had their car towed at least once, so don’t feel bad. Getting your car out of impound will likely cost around $450.
Here’s a breakdown of the fees:
  • Tow dispatch fee: $67.50
  • Tow fee: $140
  • Boot fee: $136 (if applicable)
  • Sheriff/marshal execution fee: $80
If you believe your car was towed because you parked illegally, it’s likely that it was towed by the New York City police. Find the NYPD Tow Pound in your neighborhood to pay outstanding balances and get your car back.
The NYPD Tow Pound takes all major forms of payment. Keep in mind you will need valid registration and insurance to recover a towed vehicle.
If you owe $101 or greater in judgment debt, you will need to pay it off completely, in addition to the tow fees.
Sorry that happened to you! Hopefully, it’s a one-time situation.”
