According to the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), you could receive a $180 seatbelt ticket in North Carolina if you violate the state’s seatbelt laws.
But that’s not all. If you have a passenger in your vehicle under the age of 16 without a seat belt on, then your penalty will increase to a $266 fine.
