My mom has been sick for a long time, so I am moving back to France to take care of her. I bought a car while I lived in California and want to bring it with me. How much will it cost me to ship a car to France?

When you ship a car to France, the French government charges import tariffs. The cost is typically between $1,800 to $4,100, but it depends on the following factors:
- Time of year
- Size and weight of the vehicle
- Type of vehicle
- Distance
The tariff charges applied to the total are:
- 5-10% for cars
- 22% for trucks
- 20% for Value Added Tax (VAT)
- Special tax for CO2 emissions for shipping the vehicle
Be aware that shipping a vehicle from
California
to France will take at least 30 days. To ensure you get the best deal when shipping your car, shop around with at least three different transport companies.
