How much does it cost to replace a Tesla key?

How much will it cost to replace the key fob for my Tesla? I lost it, and I’d really like to get a new one, but I’m worried it’ll be super expensive.

Key fobs can be hard to keep track of, especially when they won’t fit on a keyring! Unfortunately, replacing your
lost car key
can cost anywhere from $25 to $400 depending on your model.
Here are the costs of replacement keys for each Tesla model:
  • Model 3 replacement keys cost $25.
  • Model 3/Y keys cost $175, plus an $85 programming fee.
  • Model S/X replacements cost $300 in addition to an $85 programming fee.
If you’re worried about losing your keys again, consider finding a Tesla key fob case online. Since Tesla keys don’t easily fit on key rings, some companies have started selling cases that help you keep track of them!
While key replacements can be pricey, you can offset the cost by saving on car insurance with
