A few years ago, I gave my old Ford Focus to my son as his first car, but he recently purchased a new car and gave the Focus back to me. It still runs great so I want to sell it, but it has quite a bit of paint damage. How much will it cost to fix the paint on my car?

Paint damage can be tricky to determine a price for as there are a lot of different factors that will impact the cost. Generally, you can expect to pay anywhere between $150 and $800 to get your

. Because this is quite a large margin, let’s break down the two most important cost-impacting factors.For minor damages you can expect to pay between $150 to $300 for all damage to be repaired. Minor damages will include small paint chips, relatively small or shallow scratches, and scrapes, or small dents on a flat area of the vehicle.
If you’re facing extensive damages you should expect to shell out between $400 and $800 for repairs. Or if the damage is irreversible, you could be looking at a
new paint job
which could cost upwards of $1,000.Extensive damages include large paint chips surrounded by cracking and peeling, deep scratches longer than six inches, and deeper dents on curved surfaces of the vehicle.
