How much does it cost to fix a power steering leak?

I recently had an issue where my steering became difficult to turn, like it was heavy. A friend came and looked at it, and he spotted a leak. He says it’s the power steering fluid. So how much does it cost to fix a power steering leak?

Yikes, we’re sorry to hear this happened! The cost for fixing a power steering leak is between $500 and $650. But this is all going to depend on what’s wrong. If it’s a leaky hose, pressure valve, or another minor component, you might get away with paying significantly less for the repair.
While you can technically drive the car with a power steering leak, it’s highly recommended you don’t, and not only because it’s a physically-intensive chore. Low power steering fluid can cause damage to your power steering system. And you don’t want to replace the power steering pump over something that started as trivial as a leaky hose.
In the realm of automotive repairs, fixing a power steering leak has moderately expensive costs. It’s a good idea to take your time and shop around by calling mechanics in your area to see who can quote you the best rate.
