How Much Does an Electric Car Charging Port Cost?
I’m planning on purchasing an electric car next week but realized that I completely forgot about buying a charging station. How much is an electric car charging port?

) are awesome…when they’re fully charged! On average, the cost of an electric car charging port can be anywhere from free (with your car) to $1,200. Prices can vary depending on the quality of the port itself and what modifications of your garage may be needed to accommodate it. There are two levels of charging ports available for residential installation at home.
Level 1 charging ports use the standard household 120-volt circuit. It doesn’t require any modifications to your garage but will take longer to charge (8-12 hours). Thankfully, most electric vehicles come with this type of charging station or around $300 for a new one.
Level 2 is the most common type for at-home charging ports as they
charge faster
and—depending on the design—can have up to two cars charging at once. These ports charge in 4 to 6 hours with a 240-volt circuit and therefore will require an installment. The average cost of one can be anywhere from $300 to $1,200 including the installment
While your vehicle will come with a Level 1 charger, if you want to upgrade, I’d suggest getting an electric car charging port installed as soon as possible (preferably before you drive your vehicle off the lot next week). Happy driving!
