A stage one tune involves remapping your Ram’s electronic control unit (ECU), which means the tuner will hook up your truck to a dynamometer, analyze the readings, and make adjustments to the original computer settings.
If you want to follow up on Stage 1 tuning, your mechanic will modify your Ram’s air intake system and/or your exhaust in Stage 2 and perhaps make other tweaks as well. This will involve installing new parts.
We all want our truck’s engine and exhaust system working optimally. That’s one reason Ram owners do research about car tuning. However, when you’re on a budget—and who isn’t?—you’ll want to do enough research to figure out whether the cost is worth the results.
