How much does a 2012 Nissan Murano transmission replacement cost?

I’ve had my Nissan Murano since it was brand new in 2012. The other day it finally flunked out on me, I guess the transmission failed. That’s what my wife says anyway, I don’t really know anything about cars. I’m wondering if I need to give up the car as totaled or can I get the transmission replaced? How much would that cost?

Yes, you can—and a 2012 transmission replacement would typically cost between $4,800 and $5,500 for parts and labor.
Depending on the quality of the replacement transmission (is it a stock transmission or an aftermarket item, is it brand new or refurbished, etc), the part alone would be between $3,500 and $4,200. The labor will vary depending on the rates that your mechanic has—but a job like that should usually cost around $1,300 for labor.
Times like these are a good reminder of why it’s important to have reliable and affordable
