I’ve seen estimates that for other technology like smartphones that use lithium-ion batteries, the batteries can only handle about 500 charges before they start to deplete. Is the same true for the batteries in electric cars?

Electric car batteries have various protections in place that allow them to have a lifespan of 10-20 years including internal thermal management systems. You can also help extend the life of your car’s battery by following some charging best practices including:
- Not charging every night
- Charge between the 20 and 80 percent range
- When parked at home, try to keep your car somewhere it won’t be exposed to extreme temperatures
