How many rest stops are there on I-90?
My husband and I are retiring later this year. We’ve always wanted to do a huge cross-country road trip, and we decided to drive from Seattle all the way to Boston, driving the full length of Interstate 90. How many rest areas are there on I-90 and what should we know before we go?

Here’s how many rest stops on I-90 you’ll find in each state:
- Washington- five rest stops
- Montana- nine rest stops
- Wyoming- five rest stops
- South Dakota- 11 rest stops, with one eastbound-only welcome center
- Minnesota- Six eastbound, five westbound, and one east and west
- Wisconsin- One eastbound, one westbound
- Illinois- Two rest stops
- Indiana- Five rest stops
- Ohio- Six rest stops, plus one westbound-only welcome center
- Pennsylvania- One welcome center eastbound and one westbound
- New York- Eight eastbound, nine westbound, plus two eastbound and westbound
- Massachusetts- Three eastbound, four westbound, and two eastbound and westbound
All of this brings the grand total up to 89 rest stops on I-90. It almost makes you want to petition them to open just one more, right? So there are 90 on 90?
