, but in general, a consumer car takes 5 – 8 quarts of oil.Not only that, but certain cars also require different kinds of oil as well. You can look at your
owner’s manual for your car’s oil change requirements.
It’s important to verify that your car has the right amount of oil, even if you pour in exactly what the manufacturer recommends. All engines come with an oil dipstick which will tell you if the engine has the proper amount of oil inside of it. Be sure to check the dipstick before you complete the service.
Once you’re done with that, it’s also important to make sure you have the right insurance on your car.
