How many points before my license is suspended in NJ?

I got a speeding ticket for the first time and I’m really nervous! Will my license be suspended if I get another one? Do I need to be really careful now?

Try not to worry too much yet! If you get 12 points or more, your license will be suspended in
NJ
. However, a single speeding ticket is only worth two to five points in total depending on how fast you were going, so you’re not in danger of losing your license just yet.
While points do stay on your record indefinitely by default in NJ, you can have points removed by keeping a clean record for a full year or by taking state-approved driving courses. Staying safe on the road can definitely help bring your record back to its original pristine state.
In the meantime, though, a spotty driving record can affect your car insurance rates. Check out the
