How many people died from drunk driving in 2016?

The number of pedestrians killed each year has reached a four-decade high, and is rising at twice the rate as surging overall traffic fatalities.

The number of annual cyclist fatalities from traffic crashes has risen steadily in recent years, jumping 58% from 2010 through 2021, when they hit a multi-decade high of 985. New York, Los Angeles and Phoenix have seen the most fatalities.

About 312 people lose their lives in fatal crashes each year during the Christmas holiday, with drinking and speeding more frequently involved compared with fatal crashes throughout the year.
